Feldman Sets DII-era Record with Sixth Straight Double-Double as Saints Fly by Rockhurst 96-60

St. Louis – The Maryville women's basketball team soared past Rockhurst 96-60 Saturday afternoon as the Saints have won three straight and seven of their last eight games. Antoinette Mussorici led five Saints in double-figures with 21 points as she went 16-of-19 at the free throw line, the second most makes in a game in school history. As a team, the Saints converted 34 attempts at the stripe, the second most in program history. Karlee Feldman set a Division II-era mark as she recorded her sixth straight double-double on 10 points and tied her career high with 15 rebounds.
 
Rockhurst recap
The Saints held a narrow lead throughout the first quarter, and an Antoinette Mussorici triple pushed the margin to 25-16. The Hawks came back with seven straight points to draw within two. Mussorici hit three free throws, and Faith Hawthorne had a second-chance layup for a 30-23 edge. After a Rockhurst score, the Saints ripped off an 11-0 burst. Madyson Rigdon drove the baseline for a layup, and Mussorici sank four consecutive free throws. Hawthorne splashed in a wing 3-pointer, and two at the line by Haidyn Pitsch gave the Saints their biggest lead at 41-24. After missing five straight shots, the Hawks finally scored but Mussorici converted a layup as the Saints took a 43-26 edge into the break.
 
Two free throws by Fearday and a 3-pointer by Pitsch built the margin to 51-31 two minutes into the third. Rockhurst chipped away as got as close as 15 but the Saints closed the quarter on an 8-0 run. Hawthorne had a layup, and Pitsch followed with a baseline layup. After two at the stripe by Fearday, Pitsch scored on a drive for a 64-41 cushion heading into the fourth.
 
Maryville put the game away by scoring the first eight points of the fourth to stretch their run to 16-0. The Saints defense kept the Hawks off the scoreboard for nearly six minutes. The lead ballooned to more than 30 as Maryville stayed on a roll for its third straight victory.
