St. Louis – The Maryville field hockey team was looking to close out its first Senior Day on a high note but visiting Rhodes spoiled the festivities as the Lynx dealt the Saints a 2-1 loss. Jessie Early tallied the lone Maryville goal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Calista Crocker had Maryville's first good scoring chance but her attempt was saved. The Lynx dented the scoreboard with a score at the 5:33 mark. The Saints picked up the pressure and had three straight shots on frame. After a scramble following a penalty corner, lone senior collected the ball and fed Jessie Early who fired in a goal to tie the score in the eighth minute. The Saints had two more good chanced midway through the second but were stopped as the score was tied 1-1 at halftime.
 
The Lynx applied pressure on the Maryville goal and earned five straight penalty corners. The Maryville defense stood firm and did not give up a tally. However, Rhodes finally broke through at the 38:45 mark for a 2-1 edge. The Saints charged forward and had three late penalty corners but were stymied. Maryville pulled its goalie and had three shots on goal in the final seconds but the Lynx saved all three attempts.
