Harrogate, Tenn. – The Maryville field hockey team was looking to pick up its first win in Harrogate, Tenn., but Newberry scored all three goals in the fourth quarter to move past the Saints. Consuelo Torres Moore had two shots on goal, while Jojo Cox made eight saves in the cage.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Newberry opened the game with two penalty corners but the Saints defense held off the charge. Lachlan Sanders had the first shot but pushed it wide. Maryville kept up the pressure and Torres Moore had a shot on goal saved. Cox made two more saves for the Saints in the second as the game reached halftime deadlocked.
 
Newberry took two shots on frame in the third quarter but the Cox kept the game scoreless. However, Newberry scored in the first two minutes of the fourth to take the lead. The Saints looked to answer and pressed forward but Newberry earned another penalty corner and converted the chance to double its lead. The Saints nearly pulled one back but Newberry tallied in the final minute to seal the win.
