Field Hockey Halted 2-0 by Lincoln Memorial

Harrogate, Tenn. – Closing out the weekend in Harrogate, Tenn., the Maryville field hockey squad battled at Lincoln Memorial but was stopped 2-0 Sunday morning. The Saints carried the play with 15 shots on goal and 13 penalty corners but were unable to push a ball across the line.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Saints earned the first penalty corner of the game and had attempts by Calista Croker and Consuelo Torre Moore saved. LMU had its first penalty corner but saw a shot sail wide. The Railsplitters had another corner but the subsequent shot was stopped by Saints goalie Jojo Cox. Midway through the second, the Saints battled for three straight penalty corners but were turned aside each time. LMU's goalie Ana Carney came up with eight saves to slow the Maryville attack.
 
In the opening minute after a scoreless first half, Lincoln Memorial got on the scoreboard to take a 1-0 lead. The Saints hunted for the equalizer and had two penalty corners but saw three attempts by Crocker saved. LMU scored late in the third to take a 2-0 advantage into the fourth. Maryville had two good scoring chances midway through the fourth but neither found the mark.

The Saints play in their final game of the season Sunday as they travel downtown to play at Saint Louis University at the new SLU Field Hockey Complex. Game time is Noon.
