Shippensburg, Pa. – Taking on the number one team in the nation, Maryville field hockey held off Shippensburg until the Raiders broke through in the second quarter. The Saints eventually dropped a 5-0 decision to the top-ranked team. Sophomore goalie
Jojo Cox finished the contest with a career-high 17 saves, the second most in program history.

How it Happened:
The Raiders made a push in the first quarter but Cox kept Shippensburg at bay. The sophomore came up with five saves in the opening corner to keep the top-ranked team off the scoreboard. The Raiders finally broke through in the third minute of the second quarter and eventually took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

The Saints had an excellent scoring chance early in the third quarter when
Delanie Winkelmann rocketed a shot on goal that was turned aside. The Raiders nearly tacked on another score but
Lachlan Sanders came up with a defensive save for Maryville. Cox made four more saves in the quarter to keep the Saints close. Shippensburg added goals late to seal the win and remain unbeaten.
