Millersville, Pa. – The Maryville field hockey team was looking to close out its swing through Pennsylvania on a high note but Millersville outlasted the Saints 3-0 Sunday afternoon.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Neither team generated much offense until
Cloey Turiello fired a shot on goal that was saved late in the opening quarter.
Delanie Winkelmann had an attempt midway through the second quarter but just missed wide. Millersville earned a penalty corner which led to its first shot on frame that Saints goalie
Jojo Cox turned aside, but the Marauders collected the rebound to score the first goal of the game. The hosts tacked on a score in the waning seconds before halftime to take a 2-0 advantage into the break.
Â
The Saints looked to pull a score back but Millersville added on to its lead with another goal in the third stanza.
Lachlan Sanders tested the Marauder's defense but her attempt was save. Maryville earned two penalty corners midway through the fourth but was unable to dent the back of the net as Millersville held on for the win.
