Ella Brinkmann had a double-double with 15 kills and 15 digs as the Maryville volleyball team swept Upper Iowa Friday night. The Saints prevailed via set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-20. Brinkmann hit. 344, while
Ella Domian added nine kills while hitting .412.
Taylor Hasbrook led the defensive efforts with 18 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints were down 13-12 before reeling off three straight points to surge into the lead.
Lily Brown had a kill, and Brinkmann and
Josey Wahlers followed for a 15-13 lead. The Peacocks stayed close until 20-19 before the Saints scored five straight to end the set.
Hanna Dressing had a kill, and she combined with Brinkmann for a block. After back-to-back kills by Brinkmann, a UIU error ended the set.

Set two was much of the same as the Saints took and held a narrow advantage for most of the way. Maryville scored four of five points to build a 19-15 lead. Upper Iowa tallied two straight but the Saints again closed the set with a rush. Wahlers and Dressing had consecutive kills before Domian added one of her own. UIU committed an error, and an ace by Hasbrook closed the set 25-17.

The third saw the teams trade the lead until Maryville led 14-13. The Saints reeled off four straight points to take control. The Peacocks closed to within 23-19. The Saints had match point at 24-19 but the Peacocks saved one. However, Brinkmann hammered in a kill to end the match.
