St. Louis – Led by Justin Simonson's career highs of five goals and seven points, the No. 18 Maryville men's lacrosse team flew past Quincy 19-8 in a nonconference clash Thursday afternoon. The Saints scored the first five goals of the game to take early control. Zach Baker finished the contest with four goals to continue his strong early season output.
 
Quincy recap
Ben Mickett scored just 64 seconds into the game for a quick 1-0 Maryville lead. Just over a minute later, Simsonson tallied his first goal. After winning the ensuing faceoff, Shea Raeburn fired in a score to make it 3-0. Simonson and Mickett tallied before the quarter ended as the Saints led 5-0 just eight minutes into the game. Quincy pulled one goal back but Simonson completed a first-quarter hat trick, and Clayton Cerett scored his first of the day. Baker rifled in a score to make it 8-1, and the Saints led by six after the first quarter.
 
Ben Foster found the back of the net to open the second. QU added its third of the day before Justin Morgan and Baker scored to make it 11-3. The Hawks scored a late goal to make it 11-4 at halftime. Quincy had the first goal of the third but Baker and Ethan Olson responded for the Saints. Cerett and Matt Martyn tallied late in the third as it was 15-7 heading into the fourth. The Saints scored four more times to close out the double-digit victory. Ten different Saints recorded at least one goal on the day.
