Indianapolis - The Maryville University wrestling team advanced four individuals to the 2024 NCAA Division II National Tournament out of the NCAA Super Regional IV in Indianapolis. Moving on for the Saints are Evan Binder (133), Kody Ketchum (141), Cole Ritter (165) and Ryan Herman (285).  The 2024 NCAA DII Nationals will take place March 15-16 at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kan., just north of Wichita.
 
Herman claimed the Super Regional title in the heavyweight classification as he rolled to three victories. He started his day by shutting out Drury's Thomas Massengale 4-0. In the semis, Herman defeated Central Missouri's Trent Strong in a 5-1 decision. The championship pitted him against No. 1 Shawn Streck of Central Oklahoma. Herman trailed 8-3 heading into the final period. He earned an escape to pick up a point. Still trailing with with six seconds to go, Herman had a takedown and a four-point nearfall to cap his rally for a thrilling 11-10 victory.
 
Binder started his day with a fall in 2:13, and rolled to a 17-1 tech fall in the quarterfinals. He outpointed his foe Peter Rolle of Central Oklahoma in the semis with a 13-11 decision to reach the finals. Facing ninth-ranked Ryan Ripplinger from McKendree, Binder was edged out 6-2 in the finals.
 
Ketchum lost his opener to drop into the consolation bracket. He bounced back with back-to-back falls. In the semis, he battled to a 2-1 win over No. 7 Blake Mulkey of Indianapolis. In the consolation championship, Ketchum stormed to an 18-2 tech fall over Quincy's Sabian Russell to advance to nationals.
 
Ritter defeated UCM's John Ridle with a 13-2 major, then followed up with a fall in just 1:38 over McKendree's Cory Peterson, who is ranked second in the nation. In the finals against UCO's Hunter Jump, Ritter saw his run end in a 5-1 decision.
