With 3-1 Win at Quincy, Men's Volleyball Sets Program Record with 20th Victory of Season

Quincy, Ill. – With a 3-1 victory at Quincy, the Maryville University men's volleyball team set a new program record for wins in a season with 20. The Saints prevailed over the Hawks 25-19, 25-22, 15-25, 25-23 to surpass the 19 wins by the 2022 team. Makai Scott (14 kills and 10 digs) and Luke Kraft (13 kills and 10 digs) both notched double-doubles, while Jacob Fischer hit .381 with 10 kills and three blocks. Cameron Chambers handed out 43 assists, his second highest total of the season.
 
Quincy recap
The Saints held a narrow lead before scoring three straight points. Scott started the run with a kill, Fischer had a block and a QU error pushed the Maryville advantage to 14-7. The Hawks rallied and closed to 17-15. The Saints steadied themselves following a Cameron Lee had a kill and an ace by Luke Van Handel. Kraft had three kills and Chambers served an ace as the Saints built their lead to 23-16, before a kill by Scott ended the set.
 
Set two was close the entire way and was still tied at 21-all. QU committed an error before David Fleischer served two straight aces. The teams traded points as the Saints earned a set point before another Quincy miscue gave the Saints a 25-22 win. Set three saw the Saints record their lowest hitting percentage of the match, while the Hawks had their best hitting performance to cut the Maryville lead to 2-1.
 
The Saints had a 12-10 edge before going on a 4-1 burst to push out to a five-point lead. Fischer and Scott had two kills to start the run. After a QU error, Kraft fired in an ace for a 16-11 advantage. The Hawks tallied six straight of their own and went back up 17-16. Fleischer tied the score, and Scott pushed the Saints on top. Quincy tied the score but Lee had back-to-back kills, and another by Fischer was good for a 21-18 edge. Lee's kill gave the Saints match point at 24-20 but the Hawks saved three straight. However, Scott hammered down a kill to close the match at 25-23.
