Kansas City, Mo. – In a clash of ranked Great Lakes Valley Conference teams, No. 18 Maryville men's lacrosse took down league leader No. 19 Rockhurst 13-10. With the score tied at 9-all, the Saints scored four of the final five goals of the game. The victory is the tenth of the season for the Saints, the most in program history.
Justin Simonson had three goals and an assist, while
Ben Foster also recorded a hat trick.

Rockhurst recap
In a defensive battle of the opening quarter, the Saints tallied the first goal of the game when Simonson curled around the cage and tallied at the 7:29 mark. Both defenses dominated as the quarter ended 1-0.
Ethan Olson threaded a tight pass in traffic and
Connor Kvaal scored with three seconds left on the shot clock to push the Saints up 2-0 at the 10:32 mark in the second quarter. The Saints held Rockhurst off the scoreboard until the 1:28 mark as Maryville took a 2-1 edge into the break.

With the game tied 3-3, Olson grabbed a pass from
Shea Raeburn and netted a goal at the eight-minute mark to push the Saints back on top 4-3. However, the Hawks tallied two straight scores to grab their first lead of the game 5-4. Just over a minute later, Zack Baker rocketed in a low shot to tie it and start a 4-0 run.
Ben Mickett and Foster scored on back-to-back man-up situations for a 7-5 lead. Maryville won the next faceoff, and Simonson circled the cage to score to extend the advantage to 8-5.

Reid Usrey fired in a shot from distance for a 9-7 lead three minutes into the fourth. Rockhurst tied the game at 9-9 with 9:26 to play. Simonson answered less than a minute later to restore a 10-9 advantage. With one second left on the clock, Foster tucked in a goal at the 7:10 mark for an 11-9 edge. The Hawks drew to within 11-10 but Foster fired in another score with 2:58 remaining. Rockhurst had a look with just over two minutes to play but
Dylan Radke came up with a save.
Mitchell Kaye rocketed in a score with 1:19 remaining to put the game away. The win over No. 18 Rockhurst is the third victory over a ranked team this season for the Saints.
