St. Louis – The Maryville women's lacrosse team's bid to win its first Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament fell short as Indianapolis downed the Saints 17-10 in the championship game. The second-seeded Greyhounds outscored the top-seeded Saints 5-1 in the third quarter to key the victory. The loss is the first of the season for Maryville.

Indianapolis recap
The Greyhounds scored the opening two goals before the Saints answered with three straight. Sydney Tiemann intercepted a clearing pass and fired in Maryville's opener. Kylie Pettus scored to tie the game, and 14 seconds later, Chloe Elliott gave the Saints a 3-2 lead. UIndy went back up 4-3 until Jessie Hynes scored to force a 4-4 lead. The Greyhounds again inched ahead until Helen Bae converted to end a high-scoring first quarter at 5-5.
 
The teams traded goals and Natalie Tomljenovic scored for a 6-6 deadlock. The Greyhounds answered with two goals but neither team scored in the last 10 minutes of the second as UIndy took an 8-6 lead into halftime.
 
The Greyhounds opened the scoring in the third but Tiemann pulled one back to cut the deficit to 9-7 with exactly nine minutes left in the quarter. However, UIndy scored the next four goals before Bae ended the run at 13-8 early in the fourth. Rukstad notched a goal to make it 15-10 with 3:19 left The Saints were unable to score back-to-back goals as UIndy tacked on late tallies for the final margin.
