Sydney Tiemann fired in nine goals and added one assist to boost the Maryville women's lacrosse team to a 22-4 romp over Missouri Western Friday afternoon.
Helen Bae recorded five points on four goals and one assist, while
Chloe Elliott,
Jessie Hynes and
Natalie Tomljenovic all scored twice. The Maryville defense shut out the MWSU offense in the second half.

The Saints jumped on top with three goals in a 57 second span. Elliott opened the scoring two minutes in, and
Reagan Rukstad doubled the Maryville margin. Just nine seconds later, Tiemann tallied her first of the day for a 3-0 advantage. The Griffons pulled one score back but Tiemann, Hynes and Bae made it 6-1. The Saints stayed in front and were up 8-4 when the visitors scored with 7:52 left in the second quarter. However, that would prove to be the Griffons' final goal of the day.

Bae answered to for the first of five straight to end the quarter, and Tomljenovic scored 26 seconds later. Tiemann took over and rocketed in three consecutive goals for a 13-4 cushion at the break. Maryville took command with another 5-0 burst in the third. Tomljenovic deposited a score for a double-digit lead before two more by Tiemann. The Saints salted the game away with four tallies in the fourth, including scores by
Devyn Dimovitz and
Ronnie Skorcz.

Maryville held Missouri Western's leading scorer without a point, and the Saints defense kept the Griffons off the scoreboard for the final 37:52 of the contest.
Gianna Guzek made six saves in 45 minutes of action in the cage, while
Jo Miles took over in the fourth quarter and did not allow a score while recording three saves.
