Morgan Angle scored in the 55th minute of play to boost the Maryville field hockey team to a season-opening 1-0 victory at DePauw.
Jojo Cox and the Saints defense posted the shutout. Maryville controlled the game on the offensive end and outshot the Tigers 14-2.

How it Happened:
The Saints opened the contest with an offensive push and launched six shots but saw three turned aside as the first period ended scoreless. Maryville took two more shots but was unable to dent the DePauw defense.

Coming out of the break, the Saints again had two early chances by
Lachlan Sanders but both shots were turned aside. Maryville controlled the ball and did not give up a shot to the Tigers. Midway through the final quarter, the Saints finally broke through. Angle scored at the 54:46 mark to give the Saints what would prove to be the only tally of the game. DePauw earned two penalty corners in the waning minutes, including one with 13 seconds left in the game, but the Saints held on to open the 2024 season with a victory.
