Field Hockey Sets Program Record for Goals in Dominant 10-0 Win Over Oberlin

Richmond, Ind. – The Maryville field hockey team set a school record for goals in a game during a dominant 10-0 victory over Oberlin. The previous record for goals in a game was six, done twice previously. Eight different players fired in a goal for Maryville. Tia Sansone and Calista Crocker tallied two goals apiece, while McKenna Radley had one goal and two assists.

How it Happened:
Maryville's offense was relentless, scoring in every period and outshooting Oberlin 26-0. Denise Van der Spuy opened the scoring at 8:03 of the first quarter with an assist from Delanie Winkelmann. The Saints added four more goals in the second period, including two late scores from Sansone, to take a 5-0 lead into halftime.

Crocker, Skyler Turiello, Cloey Turiello, McKenna Radley, Consuelo Torres Moore, and Winkelmann all found the back of the net as Maryville continued its offensive barrage in the second half.

Oberlin struggled to generate any offense, failing to record a shot on goal, as the Saints dominated the ball. Maryville goalies Jojo Cox and Liz Hind shared the shutout without needing to make a save. The shutout is the second straight for the Saints defense. The contest was played on the campus of Earlham College.

Records:
Maryville: 2-0
Oberlin: 0-2
