Box Score ST. LOUIS – In their first top-25 battle of the season, the No. 12 Maryville Saints squandered a one goal lead in the final ten minutes of play, giving up a pair of goals within just three minutes of action to fall to the No. 22-ranked Tiffin Dragons.
The Saints now move 0-1-1 on the season while the Dragons move to 1-0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints played fast in the first half, pushing the tempo as much as they could, and it finally paid off at the 33rd minute.
Bryce Glisson played a ball up the left side of the field and sent it into the box where a perfectly placed
Pontus Steffensen connected for his first goal of the season.
After the break, the Saints lead stayed true for majority of play, but the Dragons kept their pressure on, taking eight shots with a 4-0 lead in corners. That pressure eventually burst as with a header scramble in the box, the Dragons tied it. And as quickly as the Saints lost the lead, they were trailing as three minutes later Tiffin put another in the back of the net, the eventual winner.
