BRANSON, Mo. – The 2025 season has started with a bang for Maryville Softball as the team secured win No. 1 and No. 2 of the season, defeating Newman 8-1 and Oklahoma Baptist 3-1.
Â
Freshman pitcher
Cora Boyle and Grad-Student
Chayse Ramey commanded the circle for the Saints in the win, each going the full seven innings. Boyle, in her collegiate debut, gave up just a run on seven hits while punching out a pair. For the vet in Ramey, she used a 122-pitch performance to punch out seven while only allowing seven runners to reach.
Â
Isabella Garcia was the power of the Saints today, grabbing four RBIs over two contests, including a 3-5 game versus Newman.
Â
GAME 1 | MARYVILLE 8, NEWMAN 2
Early and often was the slogan of the Saints in game one as after just two frames it was a 5-1 ballgame. Garcia was the first Dawg to grab an RBI this season, using a centerfield single to score both
Jenna Kosnoff and
Emily Corona.
Â
Garcia kept that going in the second, making it 3-1 with another RBI single. An
Addison Koth 2-RBI gave the Saints a four-run lead.
Â
Another RBI double, this one by
Kaitlyn Wagner and poor Newman pitching accounted for the two in the sixth before another misplay in the seventh granted the Saints their final run of game one.
Â
GAME 2 | MARYVILE 3, OKLAHOMA BAPTIST 1
OBU got to Ramey early, but that was the lone opportunity they had, scoring on a double in the second. RBI singles by Kosnoff, Garcia and Wagner in the third picked Ramey up and found the final score.
Â
From that point, Ramey cooked allowing only three more baserunners in the contest.
