ST. LOUIS – The Maryville field hockey team set a new single-season program record with its sixth victory of the season via a 5-0 win over Coker Saturday. Up 1-0, the Saints broke the game open in the third with three goals in two minutes.
Â
How it Happened:
The Saints carried the early play and notched the first score of the game when
Denise Van der Spuy collected a pass from
Calista Crocker and fired the ball into the cage. Maryville peppered the Coker goal but was unable to put a second past the Cobras keeper as the game reached halftime up 1-0.
Â
The Saints drew back-to-back cards and played down two players for a stretch. Maryville staved off a penalty corner before taking control. Crocker picked up her second assist of the day when she fed
Cloey Turiello for her second goal of the season and a 2-0 lead. Just 72 seconds later, Van der Spuy scored off an assist from
Consuelo Torres Moore. Another 53 seconds elapsed before
Andra Alexander deposited her first goal of the season off a feed from
Tia Sansone to cap the Maryville flurry. The Saints put the game away with a goal early in the fourth when a
Skyler Turiello shot bounced straight back to Sansone for the final 5-0 margin.
Â
Jojo Cox made three saves in goal as Maryville put up its second straight shutout and third on the season. The sixth victory of the season surpasses the five recorded by the 2023 team.

Records:
Maryville: 6-3
Coker: 2-9
