ST. LOUIS – The Maryville volleyball squad saw its season-high four match winning streak come to an end as they dropped a close four-set decision to Indianapolis. The Greyhounds prevailed 26-24, 28-26, 16-25, 25-17.
Ella Brinkmann led Maryville offensively with 15 kills on .260 hitting and added 21 digs, anchoring both attack and defense.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Maryville fell just short in both the first two sets, losing in extra points each time. In the first set, the Saints led 24-23 but UIndy tallied three straight points to grab the opener. The Saints trailed for most of set two before using a 6-1 run to inch ahead. Again, Maryville earned set points at 24-22 but the Greyhounds tied the score at 24-24.
Emma Hoing had a kill for another set point but UIndy tallied two straight. Brinkmann tied the score at 26-all but the visitors scored two consecutive points to take the set.

In set three, the Saints surged ahead with a 6-1 burst.
Lynsey Batson started the spree, and a block by
Leslie Longanbach and
Kadie Tarasiewicz built a 16-11 edge. UIndy got as close at 19-15 but Maryville closed the set on a 6-1 surge, with a solo block by Batson ending the set.
But in the fourth, UIndy took the early lead and pulled away to close out the match.

Ella Domian chipped in 11 kills and tied for second-most digs, while Longanbach paced the defense with 7 blocks (3 solo, 4 assists). On the setting side, Taylor Reynolds recorded 20 assists and two aces, keeping the offense moving and trying to swing momentum. Defensively, Olivia Klump added 16 digs and a block, and Ellie Witthaus put up 13 digs with two aces, contributing in multiple phases.
