M1 Hockey Shines at Showcase as Saints Enter Thanksgiving Break Ranked No. 9 in the Nation

The Maryville Men's Division I hockey program heads into Thanksgiving break with momentum and national recognition, climbing to No. 9 in the latest ACHA rankings. The Saints sit at 8-6 in ACHA play, a record shaped by the most difficult strength of schedule in the country and reinforced this past weekend by an outstanding performance at their home Fall Showcase.

Hosting three top-15 opponents - No. 8 Liberty, No. 10 Calvin, and No. 15 Arizona - Maryville delivered its most complete weekend of hockey this season, sweeping all three games in dramatic fashion.

Thursday, the Saints opened the showcase by defeating Liberty 3-1, using disciplined defensive play and timely scoring to knock off the Flames. Friday, they repeated the formula, skating to another 3-1 victory, this time over Arizona. The weekend concluded with a thrilling comeback Saturday, as Maryville erased a late deficit and topped Calvin 4-3 in overtime, sealing a perfect 3-0 showcase record.

Head Coach and Director of Hockey John Hogan praised the team's response and resilience after a month defined by elite competition.

"It was a great weekend of hockey for our group," Hogan said. "We've taken some lumps with the strength of schedule we've played, but to close out ACHA play for the semester on the right foot says a lot about our guys. They stuck together, they played the right way, and now we should have some confidence heading north for a difficult stretch of exhibition games."

With the showcase sweep and another top-10 ranking secured, Maryville officially closes out its 2025 ACHA regular-season slate. December will bring a unique and demanding road trip as the program continues testing itself against high-level competition.

The Saints will travel to Vancouver for a pair of exhibitions against Simon Fraser University on December 5 and 6, before flying north to Anchorage for a marquee NCAA Division I exhibition game against the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on December 10.

Maryville will resume ACHA action in January as the push toward the 2026 ACHA National Tournament, hosted in St. Louis, Mo., continues.
