BRANSON, Mo. – The Maryville Softball team, under new leadership in
Chanin Billings, has already made history this season, as with their two wins to close out the DII Leadoff Classic, the team became just the second team in program history to start 6-0, matching the 2003 Saints team.
Â
The Saints began their Sunday in Branson, Mo. with their second run-rule victory of the weekend, beating Minnesota Crookston 10-0. The Saints kept the shutouts rolling with a 2-0 win over the University of Missouri Southern to finish the weekend perfectly.

GAME 1 | Maryville 10, Minnesota Crookston 0
After walking the bases loaded in the first, UMC's control gave the Saints their first three runs of the game, leaving the beginning frame with a 3-0 lead. That trend continued in the second as a wild pitch granted the Saints their fourth run.
Â
It was not until the third frame when the Saints' bats earned themselves a run, with
Emily Corona's RBI triple leaving it 5-0.
Â
The final blow of the contest game in the sixth where some situational hitting brough the game to it's 10-0 final score.
Â
Cora Boyle and
Mercedes Delgado combined in the circle for the shutout, holding the Golden Eagles to just five hits.
Â
GAME 2 | Maryville 2, Missouri Southern 0
Much like the day before, late offense came to the rescue for the Saints. With
Chayse Ramey continuing her early season dominance, including seven punch outs on three hits in the ballgame, the Saints entered the sixth frame tied 0-0.
Â
Corona crushed her second triple of the day to lead off the frame, with
Jenna Kosnoff following that up with a big RBI double, which ended up being the game winner. A
Kaitlyn Wagner RBI-single gave Ramey some extra breathing room as she closed out the seventh inning.
