Luke Williams piled up a career-high 30 points as the Maryville men's basketball team defeated Southwest Baptist 104-99 in overtime in the season finale.
Anthony Holden also recorded a career high with 26 points as he drained six 3-pointers while hitting 9-of-16 shots from the field.
Lucas Burton finished with 19 points. Williams' total is the most points scored in a game since Owen Long tallied 35 points at Quincy Jan. 14, 2021. The Saints also set a program record for fewest turnovers in a game as they turned the ball over just four times.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 84-74 with 4:19 to play, the Saints used a 9-2 run to get back into the contest. Williams made a pull-up jumper, while Holden sank a triple. Williams had a three-point play to trim the gap to 86-83. The Bearcats were still up 91-86 in the final minute before Holden drilled a wing 3-pointer to trim the gap to two. Williams came up with a steal and was intentionally fouled with 11.1 seconds left to go in the game. He sank both attempts to tie the game. The Saints had an attempt in the final seconds but the shot missed the range.

Williams hit a jumper to start overtime, and
Dewayne Vass scored on a drive for a 95-91 lead. SBU sank one free throw before Holden lit up the Bearcats with back-to-back 3-pointers to extend the margin to 101-92 with 1:32 to play.
