ASHLAND, OHIO – Three different players scored at least four goals as the No. 6 Maryville women's lacrosse team bounced Ashland 21-9.
Marissa Zeno set season highs with six goals and eight points to pace the offense.
Helen Bae and
Chloe Elliott both finished with four goals and one assist. The Saints led by as many as 16 goals to cruise to their ninth straight victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Elliott fired in the opening goal but Ashland came back and tied it. The Saints stormed in front with eight straight scores. Bae put the Saints in front for good, and
Kylie Pettus tallied less than a minute later. Zeno fired in a pair of goals before Bae tacked on a second. Zeno found the back of the net again on a free-position shot in the waning seconds for a 7-1 lead after the first quarter.
Emmery Clark and
Devyn Dimovitz closed out the run with scores for a 9-1 advantage.

After the Maryville defense held Ashland without a goal for more than 15 minutes, the Eagles finally notched their second goal of the game. Elliott scored on the ensuing draw control, and Bae completed her hat trick midway through the second. Dimovitz scored again as the Maryville lead reached double digits. A Zeno score made it 13-3 at halftime.

The Saints started the third quarter with three straight goals with Elliott finishing up her hat trick, and
Izzy Watts finding the scoresheet. Maryville fired in three more goals to take a 19-5 lead and put the game out of reach.
Gianna Guzek made three saves and allowed just three goals in 34 minutes of action to pick up the win in goal.
