Saints Serve Up Season-High 15 Aces in Sweep of Lions

ST. LOUIS – The Maryville men's volleyball team returned to its winning ways, closing it out versus the Mount St. Joseph Lions in three sets.

Four saints had five or more kills, with Joe Nicometo recording a season high five on nine attacks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints stormed out quickly and never let up, grabbing the first set 25-14, with their lowest hitting percentage of the day coming in that set, only striking 37 percent.

From there it was a Saints show, striking 40 percent in the second set and 53 percent to close out the third set.

Aces were the big killer for the Lions, as the Saints dished out a season high 15. Jake Usher led all Maryville players with three, while Cameron Lee, Victor Ganev, Tyler Sobersalski and Luke Kraft each recorded two. Usher's three is a career high for the redshirt freshman.

UP NEXT
The Saints head on an extended road spree, heading to Wilberforce, Ohio for a bout with Central State University due for Monday, March 10, at 6 p.m.
