Saints Sweep GLVC-Leading Lewis for Seventh-Straight Victory

ST. LOUIS – It was an unbelievably eventful day on the diamond for Maryville softball as the Saints dethroned the Lewis Flyers 6-5 in game one and 5-1 in game two.

Game one saw Addison Koth walk it off with a sac fly, while game two saw Cora Boyle toss her fifth-straight complete game with one or less runs given up.

GAME 1 | Maryville 6, Lewis 5
Down by four going into the sixth inning, Cora Boyle, starting in right field, got the Saints within one run with a RBI single into right. A pinch-hit blast by the Flyers brought their lead right back to two runs.

Needing a rally and a half, it started in the bottom of the seventh with a Kaitlyn Wagner double. A Marley Williamson walk and a Emily Corona bunt single left the bases loaded for Jenna Kosnoff. A massive spot for the second baseman was capitalized upon in a big way, roping a ball into center which two runs scored on, tying the game.

After a Garcia walk, Addison Koth became the hero, lifting a ball deep to centerfield for the go-ahead walk off sacrifice fly.

GAME 2 | Maryville 5, Lewis 1
Tied 1-1 going into the sixth, it was time yet again for a big inning for the Dawgs. Garcia began the show with a single, with a Koth walk leaving it first and second.

Boyle, continuing her hot streak, lifted a ball into right field for the go-ahead and eventual game winner. But the Saints weren't done there, with a wild pitch and Miranda Bondurant RBI single leaving it 4-1. Williamson's RBI double was the coup de grâce to what became a four-run sixth inning.

Boyle finished her complete game with a three-up-three-down seventh inning for the sweep.
