ST. LOUIS  – The No. 5 Maryville women's lacrosse team routed Rockhurst in a 19-3 victory Friday afternoon.
Helen Bae led the Saints with six goals, while
Natalie Tomljenovic had four goals and three assists.
Chloe Elliott notched a hat trick and an assist, while
Marissa Zeno added a pair of goals to go along with three assists. The 19 goals are the most given up by the Hawks this season, and the Saints limited Rockhurst to a season-low three goals scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game was tied at 1-1 midway through the first quarter before the Saints erupted for six straight goals. Tomljenovic scored to give the Saints a lead they would not surrender the rest of the way. Bae took over as she fired in four consecutive goals.
Emmery Clark netted a goal late in the quarter for a 7-1 lead.

The Saints shut out the Hawks in the second quarter and tallied six more goals. Zeno started with a score in the opening minute before Bae found the back of the net. Tomljenovic tallied a pair, while Kyle Pettus pushed the margin to double digits. Elliott scored just before halftime as the Saints grabbed a 13-1 advantage.

Maryville outscored the Hawks 4-0 in the third quarter to steadily pull away. The margin ballooned to 18-1 early in the fourth as the Saints cruised to their 15th straight win. The victory insures that the Saints will host the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament May 2-4.
