Ryan Herman has been named the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year for wrestling, capping off what was already a historic season for the Saints standout. The GLVC announced 16 student-athletes from seven member institutions as 2023-24 Scholar-Athletes of the Year on Friday.
Â
Herman concluded his Maryville career with a national championship at 285 pounds and secured his second consecutive NCAA Super Regional title. A consistent force in the Saints' lineup, he posted a 29-2 record on the season and captured the prestigious Midwest Classic title along the way.

The GLVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is presented to one student-athlete in each conference sport, recognizing outstanding athletic achievement — both individual and team — along with academic excellence during the year in review. Nominees must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, in line with Academic All-America standards, and must not be freshmen or first-year transfers. Voting is conducted by the Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs) from each GLVC member institution.
