Memphis, Tenn. – Tia Sansone scored a pair of goals, including the game winner in the fourth quarter, as the Maryville field hockey team defeated Rhodes 3-2 Friday afternoon. The victory is the third straight for the Saints. Calista Crocker had a goal and assisted on both of Sansone's scores. Jojo Cox made three saves to backstop the win.
 
How it Happened:
After a scoreless first, Rhodes opened the scoring. Sansone drew the Saints even at 1-1. She collected a pass from Crocker and fired the ball into the net just 39 seconds later. Maryville earned a penalty stroke just before halftime, and Crocker converted the chance, the second straight game she has scored from the spot.
 
The Saints were clinging to the one-goal lead but Rhodes scored to forge another tie. Again, Maryville answered in quick fashion. Crocker fed the middle of the field, and Sansone tipped the ball into the net for the game-winning score. The Lynx had a shot on goal but Cox turned the attempt away. The Saints had two late scoring chances but Rhodes made the saves. The Maryville defense did not allow a shot the rest of the way as the Saints won their third consecutive road contest.

The Saints are back at home Sunday, Sept. 21, as they host Concordia University of Wisconsin for a Noon contest at the Maryville Athletic Complex.
