SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Maryville women's soccer team played to its first win of the 2025 season on Saturday, defeating Emporia State 2-1 on the campus of Drury University. The goals for the Saints came from
Allison Estanich and
Sophia Carter, the latter being the first goal in the career of Carter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints found the advantage early in the first half, with Estanich scoring off a pass from
Tindra Rojas Severin at the 15th minute. That mark held until the break.
Fresh out of halftime, the Hornets wasted no time equalizing, scoring at the 52nd. Shots by
Elsa Nilson-Hurtig and Estanich both threatened before a pass by Nilson-Hurtig set up Carter for the game winner.
