Lindsey Schadewalt scored a game-high 22 points and
Adylan Ayer notched a double-double with 15 points and a career-high 10 rebounds as the Maryville women's basketball team defeated Upper Iowa 79-69 Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints inched out to a 33-32 lead at halftime before the Saints surged in the third. Upper Iowa scored the first two baskets to take a 36-33 edge.
Liz Behan scored inside, and Schadewalt sank a 3-pointer. Ayer sank a jumper to put the Saints up 40-36. The Peacocks again pulled ahead 46-44 but the Saints tallied six straight. Schadewalt hit a pull up, and
Claire Lueken scored on back-to-back possessions. The Saints were up by one and scored the final seven points of the quarter. Lueken made a layup before two straight buckets by Schadewalt tallied five straight for a 57-49 lead.

Maryville's lead was down to 61-57 before reeling off an 8-2 run. Lueken scored and
Bree Shannon sank one free throw. After a UIU hoop, Lueken hit a short jumper followed by an Ayer score inside. A free throw put the Saints on top 67-59 with 2:24 to play. The Peacocks tried to make a run but the Saints hit six free throws in the waning minutes to hold on and hand UIU its first conference loss. The Saints used a huge output off their bench and outscored the Upper Iowa reserves 42-4 in the contest.Â
