ST. LOUIS – Ella Domian hammered 11 kills at a .611 hitting clip as the Maryville volleyball team swept McKendree 25-22, 25-15, 25-20. Tessa Arnott and Joanna Gillen both added six kills. Emma Keele and Mallory Sell tacked on 11 digs apiece. Keele also served up six aces as the Saints had nine on the day.
 
How it Happened
The score was tied in set one 11-11 before Maryville reeled off four straight points, capped by a Taylor Reynolds ace for a 15-11 lead. McKendree tied the score at 19-all before the Saints answered. After a Bearcat error, Keele served consecutive aces to build a 22-19 lead. Ella Domian and Arnott has kills to reach set point. Domian drilled a kill to end the set at 25-22.
 
Set two was over virtually at the start when the Saints reeled off seven consecutive points. Gillen had a pair of kills, and Keele had three service aces. Still up 8-2, Domian had a kill, Taylor Reynolds served an ace, and a McKendree error put the margin at 11-2. Maryville put the set away with a 6-1 run that pushed the advantage to 17-5. The Saints cruised to a 25-15 decision in the second set.
 
The Saints led set three 10-4 but the Bearcats closed to 10-8. Maryville responded with five points as Keele had two kills during the run for a 15-8 lead. McKendree again closed to 15-12 but the Saints answered with four-in-a-row for a 19-12 margin. The Bearcats chipped away and got as close as three points. However, two straight errors by McKendree ended the contest as the Saints posted their first conference sweep of the season.
