Braren Leads Three Saints on All-GLVC Teams

INDIANAPOLIS – Helene Braren earned first-team honors to lead three Maryville women's soccer players named to the 2026 All-Great Lakes Valley Conference teams, the league announced Wednesday.

Carissa Speight received second-team recognition for the second consecutive season, while Emily Doane earned a spot on the third team. Senior Alexa Holley also was selected as Maryville's GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Braren, a junior midfielder, led the Saints through the regular season with five goals and four assists for 14 points. She added two goals in Maryville's GLVC Tournament quarterfinal victory at Quincy, helping send the Saints to the conference semifinals.

Speight's selection follows a freshman campaign in which she also earned second-team honors. The sophomore contributed at both ends of the field this season, including a goal and two assists in Maryville's 8-0 victory at Upper Iowa.

Doane provided five goals and an assist during the regular season. The senior midfielder capped the regular-season schedule with a two-goal performance in the Saints' 4-0 Senior Day victory over William Jewell.

Holley's sportsmanship recognition honors student-athletes who demonstrate ethical behavior, good academic standing and citizenship outside competition. She is now eligible for one of Maryville's two GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Awards presented at the conclusion of the academic year.

All-GLVC selections are determined by a vote of the conference's head coaches, who cannot vote for their own players.
