PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Maryville baseball team wrapped up its time in Pittsburg, Kan., falling to the Pitt State Gorillas in both games of the Sunday doubleheader.
GAME 1 | Pitt State 10, Maryville 5
After a scoreless first, the Gorillas unloaded in the second for eight runs. Maryville responded with a two spot in the fourth, with
Dominic Anselmo and
Matthew Rauser both grabbing RBIs.

Pitt State went on to add runs in the fifth and the eighth to balloon the lead to 10-2. The Saints attempted a comeback in the top of the ninth, plating three on RBIs by
Greyson Rathgeb,
Aaris Stolte and
Jack Meyer, but fell just short.

GAME 2 | Pitt State 10, Maryville 0
The big innings continue to haunt the Saints as the Gorillas plated three in the third and seven in the eighth to find the run rule. Maryville's offense struggled to get anything going, only getting two hits and three walks.

Defense was an issue for the Saints as well, committing three errors resulting in three unearned runs.

UP NEXT
The Saints are finally home for a three game set against the reigning NCAA DII Midwest Super Regional Champs in the Northwood Timberwolves. The series will start Friday, Feb. 20.
