ST. LOUIS – The Maryville women's basketball team used a dominating first half and flew past Quincy 85-60.
Adylan Ayer tallied a team-high 16 points to lead four Saints in double figures.
Madyson Rigdon sank four 3-pointers en route to 13 points, while
Gracie Gopalan also finished with 13 points, handed out five assists and came up with three steals.
Lindsey Schadewalt chipped in 11 points. The Saints shot 52.6 percent from the field, and their 20 wins are the most since the 2013-14 team also recorded 20 victories.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tied at 4-4, the Saints took charge with 13 straight points while hitting 5-of-6 shots. Schadewalt sparked the run with a layup, and
Liz Behan powered up for a bucket. Ayer had a three-point play and knocked down a triple. Rigdon splashed in a deep triple for a 17-4 lead. The Saints took a 25-15 lead after the first quarter.

Maryville went on another big run early in the second. A Schadewalt layup started the spree, and
Claire Lueken tallied four straight points. Gopalan sank a wing 3-pointer as the Saints built a 37-18 advantage. The teams traded points until Maryville closed the first half on a 9-2 surge.
Olivia Hahn drilled a 3-pointer, and
Alicia Burgos converted a three-point play. Rigdon's deep triple pushed the Saints to a 49-27 lead at the break.

Midway through the third, the Saints scored seven unanswered points. Ayer scored on a layup, and
Bree Shannon sank two at the line. A 3-pointer from Ayer made it 64-35. The Saints scored 11 of the first 13 points of the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach. The Maryville margin grew as large as 34 points as the Saints cruised to their 20th win of the campaign.
