ST. LOUIS – A five-run fourth inning was all the Hillsdale Chargers needed to get the win over Maryville softball on day two of the Maryville Invite.
Addison Koth, once again, homered in the loss, while
Cora Boyle tossed 3 & 2/3 of work from the circle, giving up no earned runs.
Aubrey Scieszinski came out of the bullpen, going three scoreless to give the Saints' bats a chance to make a comeback.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pitching dominated until the fourth, when all the scoring of the game would happen. A pair of singles and a passed ball put runners in scoring position for the Chargers, with four runs scoring on the next four at bats, including a pair of errors. A final RBI double left it 5-0.
Koth homered to lead off the bottom half of the fourth, but that was all the offense the Saints could muster. They attempted a rally in the bottom of the seventh, getting the bases loaded, but were unable to convert.
