ST. LOUIS – A six-run third frame was all the Lewis Flyers needed to establish a big lead that they would never relinquish as they took the series finale against the Maryville baseball team.
Lewis plated runs in all but two innings, while the Saints mustered a five spot in the seventh to keep the game alive, but ultimately fell 19-7.
Tim Leark had his first career home run in the fourth, while
Daniel Geiss tallied his first appearance of his career, tossing a scoreless third of an inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis scratched across a run in the second, but exploded for six in the third, two on a home run and three on a bases-loaded double. Three more came in the fourth, leaving it 10-0.
Leark's homer in the fourth and a
Jack Meyer RBI single in the fifth brought the game to 10-2, but Lewis struck right back.
Lewis plated two in the sixth and four in the seventh to make it 15-3. RBIs by
Aaris Stolte,
Cooper Walkoff, Eddie Uschol and
Justin Gorski prevented the run-rule, leaving it 15-5 after seven.
A final three run homer by the Flyers ended the game in the eighth as the Saints went down in order.
