ST. LOUIS - The Maryville men's cross country team finished in third place overall at the Billiken Invitational held at Quail Creek Golf Course. On a hot and humid morning in south St. Louis,
Sam Gleason was the first non-Division I runner to complete the hilly 8K distance as he was Maryville's top finisher in 28:31.3.
Rickey Armstrong was second for the Saints in 29:20.2 and 14th overall.
Hunter Bickell clocked a time of 30:20.2, good for 17th place.
Calvin Range came home in 31:40.4, while
Tucker Hinkle and
Taylor Mason finished in 32:44.4 and 32:54.1, respectively.
The host Billikens won the five-team competition with a score of 16. Mizzou finished second with 55 team points, just ahead of the Saints total of 80.
The Saints next run at the Lucian Rosa Invitational Saturday, Oct. 10, hosted by the University of Wisconsin Parkside in Kenosha, Wis.
