EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - On a brutally hot morning in Edwardsville, Ill., the Maryville men's cross country team took home third at the Gabby Reuveni Invitational hosted by Washington University in St. Louis.
The saints took to the course on the campus of SIUE to race a men's and women's combined 5K.
Sam Gleason led the saints off with a third place overall finish with a time 16:32.1.
INS & OUTS
Rickey Armstrong came across the line second for the Saints and 16th overall in a time of 16:59.5. Third place went to
Calvin Range who completed his 5k in 17:34.6 which placed him 36th overall.
Hunter Bickell was right on Range's coattails and came across the line fourth for the Saints and 37th overall in a time of 17:47.5.
Rounding out the top five for the Saints was
Tucker Hinkle who finished in a time of 18:03.8 which placed him 44th overall.
With a team score of 78, the Saints tallied third among all squads, besting fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference school McKendree. The seven Saints finishers ran an average time of 17:51 with a spread of only 2:49 from the first place finisher to the seventh.

The Saints will take a week off of competition and will race again Friday, Sept.18, in St. Louis at the Billiken Invitational hosted by Saint Louis University.
