Maryville University senior Fernanda Diaz-Pizarro was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Women's Golf Player of the Week. She picked up the recognition after winning the Kansas City Cup by eight shots to top the field of 46 golfers.
 
Diaz-Pizarro shot three straight rounds at par and finished 72-72-72=216 at Paradise Point Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo. She led the tournament with nine total birdies. She had four birdies in her opening round to shoot even par. In the second round, Diaz-Pizarro added two birdies along with 14 holes en route to carding her second straight score at par. In her final round, she registered three birdies, including one on her final hole of the day to seal the victory with another round at par.
 
The Saints are next in action Oct. 5-6, when they play in the Flyer Invitational hosted by Cog Hill Golf Club in Lemont, Ill.
