CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – A historic night for Maryville NCAA DI Ice Hockey has come and gone with an 8-0 dominant showing on the ice for the Saints as they downed ACHA Midland at the Saints' annual Black Out night showcase.
In front of a loud, proud and even more excited crowd piled into the Maryville Ice Hockey Center, the Saints put on a show, scoring three times in both the first and second periods while adding two more in the final 20 minutes of play.
Hunter Sawka, who scored the first ever NCAA Division I goal in the first period, recorded a brace, adding another in the second period. He was joined by
Max Potvin who had one in each of the first two periods.
Other goal scorers included
Zachary Maxwell,
Campbell Mclean,
Gustavs Ozolins and
Tanner Bruender.
Between the pipes
Bruno Bruveris was not tested fully, but on nine shots on goal he recorded nine saves.
The Saints were relentless offensively, taking 47 shots on goal through the three periods.

GROUNDBREAKING
Prior to puck drop, the groundbreaking for the new NCAA DI Ice Hockey facility, with five of the ACHA players who have transitioned with the program into the new era of Maryville Hockey having the honors of putting the first shovel into the ground. The new arena will be named in honor of Kelly Chase, a former St. Louis Blues player, announcer and St. Louis hockey legend.
