2016: Appeared in 16 games while throwing 32.1 innings.  He struck out 25 hitters, going 4-1 on the mound with one save. Downey threw four innings of shutout baseball against Grand Valley State on 2/28 giving up just one hit.  His eight career saves are currently the most in school history. 

2015: Set the single season saves mark with seven in his first year…. that is also tied for the career record….appeared in 19 games finishing with a 3.74 ERA…. stuck out 18 batters in 21.2 innings….top five in single season record book for saves and appearances…3/8 picked up first career save in a 4-3 win over Hillsdale.

High School: Played at Lutheran South for Steve Pfund.  Finished his senior year with a 6-2 record and a 1.48 ERA.  Struck out 65 hitters in 56.2 innings while earning All-Conference.

VonBehren on Downey:
Brandon has shown the ability to be successful in our league and then continued that with an outstanding summer with the Waterloo Bucks. We made some adjustments this fall and he will add a big arm out of our pen. I am looking forward to big things from him this year.
