Jake Walters

Maryville University Head Baseball Coach Pat Evers has announced that Jake Walters has joined the Saints coaching staff as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Walters replaces Geoff Jimenez, who has accepted a position as an outfield and baserunning coach with the Philadelphia Phillies. Jimenez will be assigned to one of the Phillies minor league organizations.

Walters comes to Maryville after being a graduate assistant at Quincy University. He assisted with hitting and infield instruction and oversaw both the Varsity and Junior Varsity programs for the Hawks. Walters also was responsible for creating practice plans, game-day strategies, and scouting reports on upcoming opponents. He also was a part of the recruitment of potential student-athletes.

Walters also was the head assistant coach for the Hannibal Hoots of the Midwest Prospect League. He ran the offense and defense for the college summer baseball squad. Walters implemented video analysis to improve hitting and field for the team.

Walters is a 2017 graduate of Quincy University and was a two-year starter for the Hawks. He was named to the All-GLVC and All-Region second teams in his junior season and earned first team All-GLVC and All-Region honors in his senior campaign. Walters also garnered second team All-American honors in 2017.
