Collin Lanam was announced as the head women’s basketball coach for the Saints in August 2016. Lanam previously spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the Saints men’s basketball team.
“I am honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to become the head coach of the Maryville women’s basketball team,” Lanam said. “My staff and I will continue to build upon the culture and tradition that exists here at Maryville. I look forward to guiding these young women to another successful year academically, socially and athletically.”
In his tenure with the Saints, Lanam has coached seven All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selections at Maryville and helped 37 student-athletes earn GLVC All-Academic honors. In 2018-19, Mary Barton was a first-team All-GLVC honoree and garnered second-team All-Midwest honores. Kayla Steward and Stephanie Sherwood both earned third-team All-GLVC recognition. The Saints recorded 18 victories during the season, the most since 2013-14, and qualified for the 2019 GLVC Tournament.
Prior to Maryville, Lanam worked at the University of Indianapolis. He assisted the Greyhound program in all facets, including scouting, recruiting, on-court instruction, video coordination and summer camps. During his time with the Greyhounds, Lanam helped the team reach three straight NCAA Tournaments. The program was ranked for 10 consecutive weeks in the NABC Division II Top 25, and was as high as No. 5 in January 2013. At UIndy, Lanam coached two All-Americans and four All-Conference selections.
A native of Crawfordsville, Ind., Lanam graduated from Wabash College in 2006. He served as the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant at Crawfordsville High School for the 2005-06 season. He also was an assistant for the post-graduate team at Lee (Maine) Academy for the 2006-07 campaign. Lanam worked as the graduate manager for the men's basketball team at Southern Illinois before assuming his position at Indianapolis. He has worked numerous basketball camps across the country, including Reebok and Nike camps, as well as prominent schools like Purdue, Baylor, Texas and Southern Methodist. Lanam earned his master’s in business administration from UIndy in 2012.
