Jake Fitts was named Maryville’s Strength and Conditioning Coach/Human Performance Lab Coordinator in August 2019. He becomes the first strength and conditioning coach for the Saints athletics teams and a valuable member of the Exercise Science Staff.
Fitts comes to Maryville after working as a strength and conditioning coach for the Central Institute for Human Performance. Prior to his time at Central Institute, he served as the Director of Performance Training with Sports Medicine and Training Center in St. Louis and spent time as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist for the United States Army at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
Fitts previous experience on college campuses includes serving as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach with the Saint Louis University men’s and women’s basketball teams and working as a graduate assistant for seven programs at The University of Memphis. Additionally, during his time in Memphis, Fitts worked for two seasons as the strength and conditioning coach for the Memphis Redbirds, the minor league baseball team for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Fitts is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In addition, he is a Level 1 Sport Performance Coach as recognized by USA Weightlifting.
Fitts graduated from Missouri Baptist University in 2006, and earned his Master’s degree in Human Movement Science from The University of Memphis in 2008.
