Brian Woodward joins the Saints men’s soccer staff after coaching last season at Webster University. He will be working as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach.
As a player for Webster, Woodward appeared in a school-record 56 games, starting 42 of them. He posted a 27-16-6 career mark. Woodward became the winningest goalkeeper in Webster history his senior season, breaking a record that stood for 20 years.
While captaining the Gorloks his last two years, Woodward played more than 4,600 minutes. Touting a .745 save percentage and 1.29 goals-against average to go along with 15 shutouts, Woodward was a key member of the program during one of its most successful eras.
Woodward recorded about 200 saves for the Gorloks. He was an All-Conference First-Team selection in 2012 and an All-Conference Honorable Mention the following year. He was twice named to the All-Sportsmanship Team (2012 and 2013).
After completing his Webster career, Woodward spent time playing with Saint Louis Football Club in the USL. Additionally, he played PDL soccer in Nashville, TN, before beginning his coaching career.
Woodward currently serves as an assistant and goalkeeper coach for Eureka High School’s boys’ and girls’ varsity soccer programs. He also works with St. Louis Scott Gallagher’s ECNL girls’ program and is a member of Gallagher’s goalkeeping staff.
As a student at Webster, Woodward earned a degree in economics with minors in communications and finance. During his time as a student-athlete Woodward traveled to Europe, studying abroad in London.
