Tim Byrnes enters his second season as the assistant men’s soccer coach for Maryville after coming from Belhaven University as the associate head coach in Jackson Mississippi.
 
Byrnes helped guide the Blazers to an NAIA National Championship in 2012, the second title in program history. In 2013, Byrnes also led the Blazers to the round of eight in the National Tournament along with being selected to lead the top NAIA players in a seven game tour against professional teams including USL Pro, NASL, and MLS organizations. 
 
At the end of the 2013 season, Byrnes returned home to the St. Louis Metro area to continue his collegiate coaching career. In his first season Byrnes assisted the Saints, propelling the team to their best conference performance in their Division 2 history. 
 
Along with his college roll, Byrnes is the Director of Coaching for JC United, an up and coming youth club in the St. Louis area. Byrnes coaches and directs ten teams within the club in conjunction with several of the top college coaches in the St. Louis area. Byrnes also serves as a coordinator for the College Id Program tying him directly to over 20 college coaches locally and coaches nationwide. 
 
Byrnes spent his collegiate career playing in both the NAIA and NCAA. Byrnes finished his career at Greenville College in 2004. After completing his career he began coaching at Greenville, having the opportunity to coach under 2012 NAIA Coach of the year Brian McMahon.
 
Byrnes was born and raised, played his club, high school, and collegiate soccer in the Metro St. Louis area. He and his wife have four children.
 
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my collegiate coaching career here at Maryville and will do my best to continue the positive momentum of the program,” Byrnes said.
