Jacob Yorg enters his fifth year as assistant coach for the Maryville University women's basketball team. The St. Louis native previously served as the Maryville women's basketball volunteer assistant coach.
Yorg brings 10 years of basketball experience to the position and served as the head women's basketball coach at Sherwood High School during the 2007-08 season where he coached the team to its first winning season in 15 years including its first District final game in 14 years. Three of his players received All-Conference honors and one was named Conference Player of the Year.
Prior to Sherwood, Yorg served as the assistant women's basketball coach at Incarnate Word Academy for the 2006-07 season and at Visitation Academy during the 2004-05 season. From 1998-2003, he was the assistant women's basketball coach before becoming the head coach during the 2003-2004 season.
Yorg graduated from Webster University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 2002 before earning his master's degree in teaching mathematics from Webster in 2003. Yorg recently earned a master's degree in counseling from Missouri Baptist in August 2009.
Yorg also serves as an associate instructor in psychology for Maryville's College of Arts and Sciences.
