Jason Turkington joined the women's soccer coaching staff in the spring season of 2020. Prior to Maryville, he was a varsity boys' soccer coach at O'Fallon Township High School in O'Fallon, Ill., for 20 years.
During his 20 seasons, Turkington won 248 games and 10 regional titles. In 2006, he led his team to the state tournament for the first time in school history. In 2009, his team was ranked top-40 in the nation and he finished as a top-three finalist for Illinois High School Coach of the Year. His program also won the Myro Rys Sportsmanship Award in 2017 for the entire state of Illinois and was one of seven coaches selected to coach the high school All-American game. In his final season, Turkington earned Soccer Person of the Year for his region in the state.Â
In college, Turkington played soccer at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (1993-1996) and then a season of professional soccer in the inaugural Eastern Indoor Soccer League. In the EISL, he played for the Lafayette Swampcats in Lafayette, Louisiana, during the summer of 1997.Â
Turkington has a national "C" license from the United Soccer Coaches Association and is also a college credit Psychology teacher at O'Fallon Township High School. He has a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and Psychology, and later earned a master's degree in Sports Psychology.Â
