Maryville University Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation Lonnie Folks named Gretchen Moser as head coach of the Saints volleyball program prior to the 2018 season. She has been the director of the nationally-ranked Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club program since 2004 and just completed the 2017-18 club season coaching 17 Mizuno and 12 Mizuno.
In her first season directing the Saints, Moser helped the Saints double their win total from the previous season. Moser has overseen all volleyball operations for Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club encompassing 47 teams, 70 coaches and more than 600 athletes. She has coached 15 teams that ended their seasons ranked first in the Gateway Region over the last 15 years. Moser has qualified 16 teams to compete at the USAV National Tournament.  Of those 16 teams, 10 of those qualified at the highest level (Open) at USAV Nationals and seven finished in the Top 20 on a national basis. Moser coached the 16 Mizuno team in 2014 and won the USAV National Championship.

In the high school ranks, Moser started her coaching career at Ursuline Academy from 1991-1993 and guided the program at Rosary High School from 1993-1994 and 1998-2003. She returned to Ursuline in 2013 and led the Bears to a district championship and a berth in sectionals. Moser served previously as a volunteer assistant coach at East Central College in 2007. She is IMPACT Certified and holds a CAP III certification.

Moser graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education from Missouri Baptist University. She was an Academic All-Conference volleyball selection and was on both the Dean’s List and the National Dean’s List.
