Ryan LeGrand begins his fourth season as assistant coach of the Maryville Men's Volleyball Program. Since his arrival, the team has recorded 51 wins, with 21 of those coming in the 2024 season. During his tenure, the Saints have earned 8 All-Conference Awards, seven Player of the Week honors and three AVCA Team Academic Awards.
Before coming solely to the Men’s Volleyball Program at Maryville, LeGrand spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the Women’s Program at Maryville. He also served as Head Men’s Coach at Fontbonne University (NCAA Division III) for 3 years starting in 2018, where he made it to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament and was Runner-Up to AVCA National Coach of the Year. LeGrand had been the assistant coach for the Griffins since 2012.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, LeGrand has worked at the club level with St. Louis High Performance Volleyball and Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club totalling 20 years. Â Also, LeGrand was the varsity head coach at Fox High School in Arnold, Mo., for three years. A native of St. Louis, LeGrand played volleyball at Parkway North High School, where he contributed to back-to-back Missouri State Championships in 2001 and 2002. He continued his volleyball career at Lindenwood University in 2003.
LeGrand holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from Western Governors University. He is an IMPACT certified coach and has earned a CAP 1 certification through USA Volleyball.Â
